Detailed Instructions
How to Play:
Monsters enter the maze on the left and right of the screen, they will do so in groups of 30 (15 each side) every few seconds. The number of monsters that are walking / flying around the maze at any one time must be kept down below the maximum capacity of the maze (100 on Medium, 80 on Hard)
The Solution:
To control the total monster count you must build towers alongside the path the monsters take. Towers attack any monster that gets within range. To build a new tower you must select its icon on the right of the screen then move the mouse over to the maze and click again where you want to build the tower. The build icon will turn white when it is over a spot you can build on; it will turn red when you are not. Once a tower is built, if you have enough money left to build a 2nd tower the build icon will remain on your mouse cursor. If you do not wish to build a 2nd tower simply move your mouse over the path until the cursor is red then click. You can also focus fire on specific monsters as they walk by clicking on them. All towers in range of that monster will focus fire to try and take it out more quickly.
Creep bonus and interest explained
Each time a new wave of creeps is added the difference between the creeps that are remaining and the total creeps you can have is divided by five then added to your bank, this is the 'Creep bonus'. On normal the maximum you can earn per level is $20 (100/5) and on hard it is $16 (80/5) After this is added you earn interest. Interest is fixed at 5%
The details of both the creep bonus and interest can be seen at the bottom of the screen at the start of each level.
The creep bonus is designed to reward you for taking out the creeps quickly and keeping the population down, the interest rate is designed to reward you for doing this with as few towers and upgrades as possible.
Advanced:
All towers can be upgraded to improve their stats or sold to give you some of the $ you have spent on it back. To upgrade or sell a tower simply click on the tower you wish to upgrade/sell then press either of the buttons on the right. Some of the towers have special properties. The splash tower will do damage not only to the monster it hits but all monsters around it, the slow tower will reduce the speed of the monster which will make them take more hits from other nearby towers. Some towers only fire at monsters that are on the ground, the air tower will only fire on monsters that fly and other towers will fire on both land and air monsters.
Play like a pro:
Some hints and tips to help you do well.
- Slow towers have low damage but can cause monsters to group up, making them easy picking for splash towers.
- Built air towers before the air levels start then sell them when the air is all gone, this will free up $ for other towers.
- When placing a tower the circle drawn around your mouse shows the range of the tower, use this to make sure the tower overlaps the path more than it overlaps other towers.
- The range circle you get when you build or click on a tower flashes, this is the speed the tower fires.
